Hearing Protection

Using the correct hearing protection products can allow you to continue enjoying your life and hobbies without worrying as much about damaging your hearing by doing so. The team at Hearing and Ear Care Center wants to make it easy for you to protect your hearing while enjoying the things you love, which is why we carry a variety of products and technologies. Here’s a closer look at what’s available.

Earmolds and Earplugs

Earmolds and earplugs help to reduce the potency of potentially damaging noise for those who regularly experience it. They’re commonly used by target shooters, motorcyclists, pilots and construction workers.

The main difference between earmolds and earplugs is how each hearing protection device is worn. Earmolds are designed to cover the whole ear, while earplugs are designed for just the canal itself.

Both over-the-counter (OTC) and custom earmolds and earplugs are available. OTC hearing protection is easier to purchase but offers lower levels of protection. This is because these products aren’t designed specifically for the shape of your ear.

Custom-fit earmolds and earplugs offer the best levels of protection because they’re designed to fit your ear anatomy perfectly. Our audiologists will perform a one-time molding to get the shape of your ear. Then, you’ll be able to continue ordering custom earmolds or earplugs for years to come.

Earplugs and Monitors for Musicians

Musicians need to be able to follow along with the music they’re playing. This makes traditional hearing protection devices difficult for them to use.

Musician earplugs and monitors are designed especially for musicians. They reduce sound levels enough to provide protection without distorting the speech or music these artists need to hear to perform. Custom-made earplugs work best for musicians, as they fit deeper into the canal to avoid sound distortion, which can impact a musician as they play.

In-ear musician monitors are the standard technology for musicians who perform for large audiences. These devices let the musician hear the music clearly while still protecting the ear from unwanted sounds. Custom-fitted monitors are best, but some universal in-ear monitors may work for you as well.
